Transaction fees and country-specific rates
What Rowie charges per transaction, plus Stripe's underlying rates by country.
Rowie's transaction fees combine Stripe's base rate (varies by country and payment method) with Rowie's platform markup (varies by plan).
For the live, country-aware breakdown, see the rates page. It's generated from the same data the homepage and onboarding wizard use, so it's always current.
Plan summary (United States)
For Tap to Pay on iPhone / Android in the US:
- Starter: 2.9% + $0.18 per tap.
- Pro: 2.8% + $0.16 per tap.
The difference comes from Pro's smaller Rowie markup on each transaction.
How fees are taken
Every transaction runs through Stripe. Stripe takes its base fee, Rowie takes its markup, and the net hits your bank account.
- Stripe takes its base fee (e.g. 2.7% + $0.05 in the US for Tap to Pay base) from the gross.
- Rowie takes its markup from the gross at the same time.
- The net is deposited to your bank on Stripe's standard payout schedule (2 business days in the US, varies by country).
The breakdown appears on every transaction record in Orders and in your Stripe dashboard.

Rowie's platform markup by tier:
- Default region (US/CA/AU/NZ/SG/MY): Starter 0.2% plus 3 cents; Pro 0.1% plus 1 cent.
- EU/UK and other EUR/GBP/CHF/SEK/DKK/NOK/CZK/PLN/HUF/RON currencies: Starter 0.8% plus 5 cents (fixed scaled per currency); Pro 0.4% plus 2 (scaled). The percent is higher because Stripe's EU base rate is much lower (around 1.4% vs 2.7% in the US), so the customer-facing total still lands well below US levels.
For every supported country (Ireland, France, Germany, Spain, Italy, Netherlands, Belgium, Austria, Portugal, Finland, Luxembourg, Malta, Cyprus, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Croatia, Bulgaria, Sweden, Denmark, Norway, Switzerland, Czechia, Liechtenstein, Poland, Hungary, Romania, plus the regions above), the live table is at the rates page.
Manual card entry, cash, refunds
- Cash payments have no transaction fee. They're records-only.
- Manual card entry uses Stripe's online card-not-present rate (2.9% + $0.30 in the US), which is higher than Tap to Pay. Rowie's markup is the same.
- Refunds: Stripe returns the gross to the customer. Stripe's original processing fee is not returned to you (industry standard). Rowie's platform fee is refunded proportionally on full refunds.
Rowie subscription cost (your bill from us)
Separately from per-transaction fees:
- Starter: Free.
- Pro: $29.99/mo with a 7-day free trial.
- Enterprise: custom. Contact us for high-volume, multi-site, or regulated industry pricing.
Event ticket fees
Event tickets have a flat platform fee charged to the customer via gross-up (you net the ticket subtotal):
- USD/EUR/GBP/CAD/AUD/NZD/SGD/MYR/CHF/PLN/RON: $0.75 per ticket (or equivalent in your currency).
- SEK/NOK: 8.00 per ticket. DKK: 5.25 per ticket. CZK: 17.00 per ticket. HUF: 280 per ticket. These are scaled to land near a similar amount.
- Any currency not listed falls back to the default of 75 cents.
