Sign up and connect Stripe
Create your Rowie account and link a bank account so you can accept payments.
Rowie uses Stripe for payouts. You need a connected Stripe account before you can take real card payments. Until then the mobile app's Checkout screen shows a Payment Setup Required banner with a Complete Setup button, and Tap to Pay stays unavailable.
- Open rowie.io/get-started and pick a plan. Starter is free. Pro unlocks staff, analytics, invoices, table sessions, and Team Pay.
- Enter your email, set a password, and add your business name and phone number.
- Pro plans collect card details up front. The first 7 days are free. Cancel inside the trial and you're not charged.
- After signup we hand you off to the vendor portal at portal.rowie.io. Your sign-in carries over automatically, so the redirect is instant.
Connect Stripe
Inside the vendor portal:
- Click Banking in the sidebar (under the Finance group).
- The unconnected page reads Set Up Your Payment Account, with the subtitle "Connect your business to start accepting card payments." Three benefit tiles appear (Accept Payments Instantly, Secure & Compliant, Fast Payouts), followed by a "Quick setup in 3 steps" strip: 1. Business Details → 2. Identity Verification → 3. Bank Account. A "Secured by Stripe" line sits below.
- Click the orange Get Started button. You're redirected to Stripe's onboarding form, which collects your legal entity, an authorised representative, your address, tax ID where applicable, and a bank account for payouts.
- Once Stripe approves the account, you're returned to the Banking page in the portal.
What the Banking page looks like once you're connected
After Stripe onboarding is complete, the Banking page replaces the setup card with:
- An optional Account status card across the top if anything is incomplete. It shows a status pill (Pending verification, Restricted, Disabled, or Incomplete) plus either an actions-needed count or a Complete setup link that re-opens Stripe's hosted onboarding.
- An Account details card listing your Business, Country, and Payout account (e.g. "Chase ••••4242"). An Edit link top-right re-opens Stripe's hosted dashboard so you can change the bank account or update legal details.
- A Balance card with Available and Pending amounts side-by-side, and a large amber Cash out now button.
- A Payout history list with status pills (Paid / In transit / Pending / Failed / Canceled), arrival dates, method (Instant or Standard), and bank last-4. Pro plans get an Export CSV button.
- A Need help? card linking to support.
Clicking Cash out now opens a modal where you enter the amount (with a Max shortcut), pick Instant (1% fee, in minutes, capped around $9,999 per payout) or Standard (1 to 2 business days, no fee), and confirm. The summary line shows "You'll receive" after the instant fee, if any.
If Stripe needs more information they'll mark the account as restricted with a list of missing fields. Fix them via the Edit link (which opens Stripe's hosted dashboard) and the indicators clear automatically.
If a payout bounces, you'll see a red Bank account issue card with an Update bank button. Accounts flagged for review show an amber shield banner at the top of the page. Payouts are paused until support clears it.
You can confirm the same setup from the mobile app: open the Account tab, find the Banking row in the BUSINESS section. A "Setup required" badge appears until it's done.
What to do next
- Build your first menu. See Add your first menu.
- Set up Tap to Pay on your phone.
- Invite your team. See Roles and permissions.
Tip: you can ring up sales with a demo account before you connect Stripe, but the actual card-charging path will refuse to fire. Use that time to practise the flow.
